Whether you have been fashion blogging for a while or just started, SEO (Search Engine Optimization) should be something you think about when you create content. In simple terms, SEO is how well you rank on Google’s search. The holy grail is to get your content on the first page of Google’s search in order to drive more traffic to your site.
Having good SEO helps improve your discoverability long term and will boost your blog rankings. Unfortunately, this topic can have a pretty steep learning curve.
Yoast is a WordPress plugin that has done a great job of simplifying this complicated process. It provides you with simple checklists and suggestions to boost your SEO factors. It has many different features, but our two favorites are its focus keyphrase and readability analysis.
The focus keyphrase allows you to input a keyword or phrase that you would like Google to associate your post with. Then, Yoast gives you tips on how to boost your post’s SEO and rankings for that specific keyword/phrase.
The readability analysis tool gives you tips on how to optimize your content for how people read online content.
Yoast has a great beginner’s guide that will help you get started with its basic features. This is one of the easiest free SEO tools we’ve found for fashion bloggers, and we highly recommend it.
